An Article on CNN descripes how Netflix worked for 7 years on improving their envelope to be sent by mail the most cost efficient way. Nice try. They should have asked themselves, if their distribution channel was future-safe in the first place.
How well those iconic red envelopes will help the company fend off the newest threat – video-on-demand – remains to be seen.
I don’t think envelopes will matter any longer in a few years time.
„I don’t think envelopes will matter any longer in a few years time.“. Everybody said that when e-mail was invented, and i don’t see the postal services with any problems, especially since e-commerce has given a push to home delivery.
Netflix will not kill the rental store and vod will not kill netflix.
without having any figures, i do think that email decreased regular mail by a lot!
postal service as such has only benefitted from packages. but you only need packages for things that cannot be digitized. and films can be digitized, so there is no need for hardcover-transport. except for collectors items, i suppose.
